2019 Oscars

The 91st Annual Academy Awards may have been without a host this year, but as the old adage goes, “the show must go on.” On Hollywood’s biggest night for film, it was the first year in history that the majority of winners were people of color, including Rami Malek for Best Actor in Bohemian Rhapsody, Mahershala Ali for Supporting Actor in Green Book, Regina King for Supporting Actress in If Beale Street Could Talk, and Hannah Beachler for Production Design in Black Panther. In addition, The Favourite’s Olivia Colman took home Best Actress, while Alfonso Cuarón won Best Director and Cinematography for Roma, making him the first director in Oscars history to take home both awards. Despite being the subject of controversies, Green Book won the award for Best Picture, while Bohemian Rhapsody scored the most wins of the night.
