Karen Alder began her makeup career in the 1990’s and has been on an incredible journey ever since. Originally from Sheffield, England, the opportunity of a lifetime came knocking when Kylie Minogue requested her to be the key makeup artist on her On a Night Like This world tour. Karen relished the opportunity to travel the world doing what she loved, finding inspiration from Kylie, the dancers and all of the incredible adventures they shared.
Upon her return from the world tour, Karen moved to London and proceeded to make countless more special moments. She worked with photographer Elaine Constantine for Vogue, had the incredible dream-come-true experience of making over singer Debbie Harry on a Julian Broad shoot and working on Campaign Against Violence for Woman's Aid with Anna Friel, Jemma Kidd and photographer Rankin. She considers herself immensely lucky to work with such truly remarkable people but what she finds especially satisfying is that she’s been able to do so without compromising the way she thinks about beauty. Her passion lies in identifying what's really special in each individual she works with and allowing that unique quality to shine. She sees herself not as a makeup artist who covers up or redefines, rather visualizing her client’s strengths, their natural beauty and inherent glamour and enabling all of that to fully come to life.
